Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Nawaz Sharif on Thursday urged the people to stand behind him, warning that if they did not come out now, the country would suffer great losses.
Addressing a public rally of the PML-N in Daulatpur, he expressed concern that the people of Sindh were living in miserable conditions. “In spite of passing of six decades the circumstances here have not been changed,” he said. Nawaz said President Asif Zardari belonged to Nawabshah, saying President Zardari’s hometown should have the most modern healthcare facilities and state of the art education institutions but it was shocking that the people of the area were deprived of even the basic amenities. “From now on Nawabshah is my district as Zardari, who calls it his home, could not do anything for the welfare of the people.”
Nawaz said the floods had added miseries to the people’s lives as they lost their houses, their savings, their crops, their cattle and even their dear ones but neither the federal government nor the Sindh government came to help them.
He said the Punjab government and the PML-N had jointly sent 625 truckloads of relief goods to 12 districts of Sindh and the process was still going on.
