Idris Haider demands fresh PCF elections

Pakistan Cycling Federation’s (PCF) former secretary Idris Haider Khawaja has termed the September 24 election as unconstitutional and demanded the fair re-elections. Munawar Baseer’s panel won majority in the PCF elections. Addressing a press conference here at the Cycling Velodrome, Idris Haider Khawaja, who was accompanied by Kamran Amin, said that he wanted the 59th National Championship (to begin from October 26) to be postponed and also termed the newly-elected body as ‘dengue group’. Although he did not give any details of the money spent on the Tour de Pakistan (Rs 10.2 million) but accused the Baseer group of spending Rs 35,00,000 on the event and alleged that they billed the expenditure as Rs 55,00,000.
He also said that Army had been given the rights to organise the National Championship and he had written to the Army officials about the proposed postponement. He criticised the current body but had no answer to the question of giving Rs 50,000 to Syed Azhar Ali Shah, whom he called a defunct KP secretary, for not holding provincial elections in time. He also kept corresponding with Azhar till September 22, two days from the PCF elections. Idris said that he had also written to the POA for arbitration and was waiting for their reply. The POA and PSB has already written congratulatory letters to Baseer on his election.
