A mother of four daughters was set ablaze by her in-laws for not giving birth to a son in the Sherakot police precincts on Wednesday. The victim was identified as 23-year-old Sana, a resident of Shadbagh. Police said that the victim was married to Ishfaq, a resident of Shaheen Abad, Sherakot since nine years.
On Wednesday, Sana was shifted to Mayo Hospital by rescue agencies with serious burn injuries. Doctors at the Mayo Hospital said that 62 percent of her body had been burnt and she was in critical condition. Sana’s in-laws claimed that Sana was working in the kitchen when her clothes caught fire. However, Sana’s mother Nargis alleged that Sana’s in-laws including Rani, elder son of Rani, Shahzad and Rani’s brother Akram had put Sana on fire after spraying kerosene oil on her body. The Sherakot Police registered a case against Rani, Shahzad and Akram and arrested them for attempting to kill Sana on the complaint filed by Nargis. The investigation officer of the case said that the circumstantial evidences are clear that Sana was torched by her in-laws.
