Sandila new naval chief

Admiral Muhammad Asif Sandila was appointed as the Chief of Naval Staff and promoted to the post of Admiral from Vice Admiral on Wednesday.
Asif Sandila will take charge of the Pakistan Navy after present Naval Chief Admiral Noman Bashir retires from the post on October 8. Asif Sandila joined Pakistan Navy in 1972 and after initial training at Pakistan Naval Academy, he was selected for training at the Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth in UK.
He was commissioned in the Operations Branch in June 1975. Sandila also called on President Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday. The president felicitated him on his promotion and appointment as the naval chief. He hoped that during his tenure, Pakistan Navy would be strengthened further and would benefit from his leadership qualities.
