Medical superintendents of various teaching hospitals across the city welcomed the Punjab government’s move to dislodge field hospitals from hospital premises after a news item was published in Pakistan Today. Medical experts said that the field hospitals were a waste of financial and human resources, as enough space was available at all teaching hospitals in the provincial capital, adding that patients were reluctant to visit these hospitals.
Hospitals had requested beds only but the Provincial Disaster Management Authority set up field hospitals, creating an unnecessary burden on medics and the already limited budget.
