Altaf phones President, PM; vows to work jointly for democracy

MQM chief Altaf Hussain had a telephonic conversation with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Thursday. during which all the parties vowed to work together for the strengthening of the democratic process.
President Zardari and Prime Minister Gilani greeted the MQM chief for rejoining the PPP-led government.
According to a statement issued here from MQM’s London Secretariat, Altaf Hussain said that he wanted to extend the alliance between the two parties for generations.
Zardari expressed hope that this alliance would get more strength with the passage of time and both the parties would work together for the strengthening of democracy.
Gilani’s spokesman said that during the conversation between the prime minister and Altaf, matters related to the strengthening of democracy and unity were discussed.
Media reports say that Rehman Malik also telephoned Altaf Hussain and congratulated him for joining the government. The interior minister said that PPP has always championed reconciliation, which is evident from it reaching out to PML-Q and others.
The MQM chief lauded the prudent and gigantic efforts of Rehman Malik and paid rich tributes to him in strengthening reconciliation process.
