‘Chinese troops present in AJK’

NEW DELHI – Indian Army Chief General VK Singh on Wednesday claimed that 4,000 Chinese troops were currently present in Azad Kashmir. According to media reports, he told reporters that there were certain construction working teams comprising 3,000 to 4,000 Chinese present in the state, adding that some troops from Engineers Corps were also present there for security purposes.
The army chief was responding to a query on the presence of Chinese Army troops in Azad Kashmir on the sidelines of the 16th Field Marshal KM Cariappa Memorial Lecture delivered by National Security Adviser Shivshankar Menon.
