Police and Rangers arrested 81 target killers and 38 extortionists during their recent operations in various parts of Karachi, Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wasan said on Wednesday.
“Indiscriminate operations will continue against outlaws to restore peace in the city,” he told the media at the office of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA).
The minister was there to collect relief goods for the flood-affected people donated by the association.
“Police and Rangers have been directed to provide complete protection to the business community, which is backbone of the country’s economy,” he said. “Pickets of police and Rangers are being set up at the sensitive areas of the industrial zones of the city to end lawlessness and extortion.”
The home minister said that he discussed the law and order situation of the city with Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan during a recent meeting at the Governor’s House.
Speaking on the occasion, APTMA Vice Chairman Tariq Masood said that the association is sending 10 trucks containing tents and ration bags for the flood survivors.
“Another consignment of relief goods worth over Rs 50 million will also be dispatched to the flood-affected areas soon,” he added.
He said relief consignments are being sent from Peshawar, Lahore and Karachi as well and 25,000 families will be provided with necessary items under APTMA’s relief package.
