Teachers paid rich homage

Speakers at two separate seminars, held on Wednesday to mark International Teachers Day, paid rich tribute to teachers, saying no nation could achieve the desired goals without giving due respect to them. One of event ‘Teachers rights and role in the development’ was organised by the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) in collaboration with the Development Communications Network (DEVCOM-Pakistan) and Islamabad Crescent Lions Club (ICLC) at the Islamabad Girls College (ICG) F-6/2.
Sir Syed Memorial Society President Brig (r) Iqbal Shafi, who presided over the event, said “Teachers’ role is pertinent in the character-building of youth that is supposed to be the central part of all education syllabi.” He said there was an urgent need to propagate gender equality in education. “We also need concentrates vigorously and consistently on paving a way for real awareness on the gender equality.” He said, “While asking a lot from the teachers, we need to resolve their issues as well.
It is quite embarrassing when we see teachers protesting on the roads and they are baton charged. We need to give the honour to our teachers by providing them their rightful, respect and the status that they deserve as the nation builders.” “To restore the honour and respect of the teachers, it is a collective responsibility of all stakeholders in the government and other segments of society.”
