Pakistan Water and Power Action Committee (PWPAC) has announced to launch an organised and peaceful movement across the country to press the government for either resolving the chronic problems of water and power shortages or leave the government. ‘Soon we will be organising rallies, seminars and conferences in all the provincial capitals to organise our members and the masses on these issues and a big ‘long march’ will be held on November 30 in Islamabad,’ said PWPAC Central Convener Atif Ayub Mayo while addressing a press conference here on Tuesday.
He was accompanied by his provincial coordinator Punjab Faisal Butt, provincial convener Sindh Ibtesam Farooq, provincial convener Khyber Pakhtunkhawa Aamir Nawab Khan and provincial convener Balochistan Abdul Aziz Baloch. PWPAC said, “Government is neither paying any attention towards building Hydel Power Projects approved by the ECNEC nor they are taking steps to build water reservoirs in the country”. They claimed that projects having capacity of reserving 4500,000 feet of water are pending. They alleged that India is constructing dams on Chenab, Jhelum and Sindh due to the incapability of the rulers to handle this issue.
