The Provincial Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Settlement Authority in collaboration with the Memorial Sports Trust Malik Saad Shaheed announced to organise the Winter Sports Gala in Malam Jaba Swat to promote sports and winter tourism in conflict hit region.
Provincial Disaster Management Authority Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Settlement Authority Director General Shakeel Qadir Khan on his visit to the Malik Saad Shaheed Memorial Sports Trust on Tuesday said, the MoU between PDMA-PaRRSA and the Trust would be signed in this regard very soon.
“The purpose is to revive economy, hospitality industry and sports enthusiasm in the conflict hit Malakand. The PDMA-PaRRSA has successfully arranged the Spirit of Swat festival in summer 2011 in the same connection and its main objective was the revival of tourism,” he said.
Earlier Secretary of the Trust Amjad Aziz Malik briefed the DG PDMA on the endeavors of the trust.
“The Trust has established sports academies in 20 districts of the province which regularly arrange youth sports tournaments,” Amjad Aziz Malik said.
“The sports uniform and kits are being distributed among the sportsmen throughout the province and its sphere is extended to FATA as well. The Trust will not restrict itself to sports activities but also extend its efforts in education and health sectors. The Trust is also helping the financially stranded sportsmen,” he added.

The DG PDMA-PaRRSA appreciated the vital role of the Trust in promotion of healthy sports activities in the province. While paying a tribute to Malik Saad Shaheed, he said: “the province has lost an honest and brave officer in the line of duty. I am very glad to know about the remarkable achievements of the Trust in such a short span of time,” he said. Shakeel Qadir Khan assured the organisers of the Trust of his full cooperation and every possible help.
