The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Tuesday asked all its members of the National Assembly to immediately reach Karachi to attend Rabita Committee meeting. “The meeting has been called to discuss overall law and order situation in the country and some other issues of the public importance,” Wasay Jalil, spokesman of the party told Pakistan Today.
When asked if the issue of re-joining the government would also be taken up in the meeting, Wasay said that re-joining of the government was not part of the meeting agenda. However, another source in the party said sectarian killings in Quetta, law and order situation in Pakistan and Karachi in particular and some political issues like cooperation between the MQM and other political parties in future would be discussed in the meeting. When asked if all the contentious issues with PPP were resolved, he said that the PPP was likely to concede major demands of the MQM after Nawaz Sharif’s decision to be more aggressive and hold protests against the government.
“The MQM will consider all issues tonight in the meeting and define the course of its politics in future,” the source said, asking not to be named.
