FM 92.4 launches ‘Green City’ on traffic problems

The FM 92.4 radio of Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has started a special weekly programme ‘Green City’ on traffic-related and other problems of the citizens and ensure their early solution.
The officials from the ITP and Capital Development Authority (CDA) will participate in the programme, to be aired on Wednesday from 1 pm to 3 pm. They will listen to the problems of the citizens and focus on better road engineering in various parts of the city to ensure smooth flow of traffic, says a press statement.
The programme was formally aired on Wednesday, which was attended by CDA Member Environment Mian Waheeduddin, Director General Environment Suleman Sheikh and SP Traffic Mir Vais Niaz.
They listened to various calls and had a fruitful discussion with callers on maintaining traffic discipline in the city. In this connection, SSP Traffic Dr Moeen Masood said the FM 92.4 was playing an important role in educating citizens on traffic rules and regulations and it had been decided to make all the decisions in consultation with citizens. The programme was being aired for the purpose of community policing, he added.
He said the FM radio project was already benefiting citizens, as it had raised awareness about traffic rules. Moreover, it would help control road accidents, promote the concept of safe driving and ensure resolution of public problems.
The SSP said people could discuss various problems without any hesitation in the programme and every possible effort would be made to ensure concrete steps for effective and community policing.
