Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that the coalition with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)-led government will remain intact, a private TV channel reported on Wednesday.
The PML-Q leadership, Chaudhry Shujaat and Chaudhry Parvez Elahi called on President Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Sadr to convey reservations of their party’s lawmakers. Shujaat said that the party would contest the next general elections in alliance with the PPP.
President Zardari assured the PML-Q leadership that he would address their reservations. On Tuesday, federal ministers from the PML-Q had tendered their resignations to the party leadership. The ministers said they had resigned because of the government’s failures and irresponsibility towards national issues.
President Zardari said that PPP was looking forward for the better working relationship with all its allied partners in the coalition government including the PML-Q. He said that the difference of opinion was the beauty of democracy and all matters would be resolved through dialogue under re-conciliation policy adopted by the PPP government.
After the meeting, Elahi said that both parties would work together to solve the peoples’ problems. He said that main aim of both the parties was to mitigate the people’s sufferings. ”It is our firm believe that politicians have capability to resolve problems,” he said.
