A charge-sheet was filed against Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) chief Bashir Khan Qureshi for keeping illegal weapons by an investigation officer (IO) on Tuesday. This was the second case registered against Qureshi since September 29 in which he has been charge-sheeted. The JSQM chairman along with his two party workers were detained by Rangers on September 15 near his residence in Gulshan-e-Hadeed and was allegedly found in possession of illegal weapons and unlicensed arms were also recovered from his residence. In the charge-sheet submitted before the court of the judicial magistrate Malir by the IO, it was stated that Qureshi accompanied the law enforcers as they went to his residence, where a “reasonable” quantity of illegal weapons were found in the basement.
The IO said that all weapons were found to be illegitimate. He also named over 10 police officials and witnesses in the charge-sheet. A few days earlier, the police charge-sheeted Mr Quershi in another case registered under Section 13-D of Arms Ordinance. The police had also filed a charge-sheet against one of his activists and submitted a report for the cancellation of a case against a second one. The nationalist leader was booked under Sections 13-D and 13-E of the Pakistan Arms Ordinance, 1965 at the Steel Town police station.
