Ninety-one percent Pakistanis believe tobacco is harmful

As many as 91 percent of Pakistanis believe that smoking is harmful for health, says a study.
According to Gilani Gallup Pakistan’s recent survey, 91 percent of Pakistanis have said that they believed that smoking was harmful for health, while only four percent of surveyed people claimed that it is not harmful, said a press released issued here on Monday.
In a survey, a nationally representatives sample of men and women from across the four provinces were asked the following question:
Do you consider the use of tobacco harmful for health or not harmful?
The survey revealed that 14 percent of men and 3 percent of women said they used tobacco in the forms of Huqqas- a tradition pipe or Sheesha.
The survey also revealed that about 12 percent Pakistani women and 2 percent men said they take tobacco in ‘Paan’ or betel nuts.
