Pop sensations Rihanna and Christina Aguilera have been told to dress appropriately for British television before the 9pm watershed by UK’s media regulator, Ofcom. The watershed is the time period in television schedules during which adult content cannot be shown. According to new broadcasting guidelines from Ofcom, the two R&B queens have been directed to wear appropriate clothes following the rumpus over the singers’ half-dressed appearances on ‘The X Factor’. “It is important to note that in pre-watershed content, Ofcom would not expect to see singers and dancers wearing clothing that does not adequately cover their bodies (in particular their breasts, genital area and buttocks),” the guidelines released by the regulatory authority stated. The step was taken after more than 2,000 viewers complained about last year’s ‘X Factor’ final on ITV1, when both Rihanna and Aguilera wore revealing outfits and performed provocative routines with scantily-clad female dancers, the Daily Telegraph reported.
