Despite the lapse of almost two and a half months, the federal government has failed to appoint a judicial commission headed by a Supreme Court judge to probe the assassination of rebel Baloch leader Akbar Bugti, who was killed in a military operation on August 26, 2006. A federal cabinet meeting held in Quetta on July 13 had decided to appoint the commission and Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan flanked by Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Balochistan Information Minister Yunus Mullazai had told reporters a judicial commission would be appointed within a week.
