The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has suspended the membership of 14 MPAs including three provincial ministers belonging to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on not submitting the declaration of their assets. The ECP had asked all members of parliament and member of provincial assemblies to submit details of their assets by September 30 to the commission. In this regard, the ECP has also formed special monitoring cells not only in Islamabad but also in all four provincial capitals. Around 114 members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, including three provincial ministers, did not put forward the declaration of assets by the due date. The chief election commissioner took severe notice and instructed the authorities concerned to suspend their membership from the provincial assembly. The ECP would send the list of the affected MPAs to the speaker today (Tuesday). However, when contacted the provincial election commission, the officials said they did not know the real position in this connection because all decisions regarding memberships were made at the ECP Headquarters Islamabad.
