Surgical ops to continue: Memon

Surgical operations will continue in the city till the complete restoration of peace, Provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said on Saturday.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected office-bearers of the National Peace Committee for Interfaith Harmony, Karachi Division Chapter at the Sindh Information Department.
“The operations are against terrorists and enemies of peace. Neither it is against any political party, nor any specific group. It is against the people killing peace-loving people,” he said.
“For the last many years, terrorists have been trying to seize the people of Karachi by force and destroying the peace of the city. However, the present democratic government has foiled all ulterior motives of these enemies of peace.”
The minister requested all sections of the society to come forward and help restore peace in the city and thwart the attempts of those creating hatred among different sections of the society.
“We all are Pakistanis and we will never fight each other,” he added.
He appreciated the role of religious scholars and the media in maintaining peace on certain occasions.
Replying to a question, he said that no one would be allowed to collect animal hides by force on Eidul Azha and stern action would be taken against those found involved in this activity.
