The 27th Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championships will begin from Monday (tomorrow) here at Syed Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex under the aegis of the Islamabad Tennis Association (ITA).
The Men’s final and the Senior 45+ and 60+ events will be held at Islamabad Club. The tournament prize money is Rs 275,000. The Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Ladies Singles, Junior Boys’ Under-18, Junior Boys’ Under-14, Senior 45+ and 60+ doubles disciplines will be the part of the Federal Cup tennis showpiece.
“In view of the importance of the senior events, the ITF Rules with regard to Senior 45 and 60+ doubles will be followed. In order to avoid any confusion, and our zest to provide better officiating, two ITF White Badge Umpires have been involved to conduct all the events in a befitting manner including Arif Qureshi, and Shahzad Akhtar Alvi,” an official said.
The Tournament Committee including Tournament Director Fazal-e-Subhan finalised the entries of the different events. The record number of entries approximately 108 received in Men’s Singles and the Qualifying event. The draws of the Men’s Singles qualifying and the Boy’s U-18 will be taken out Sunday (today).
“The events of Senior Doubles 45 and 60 Plus will be held only in case of minimum of 8 entries receive and one day is extended to facilitate the senior players to send their entries to tournament director,” Tournament Director Fazal Subhan said.
