ICCI new president vows to solve business community’s problems

Yassar Sakhi Butt was elected as the president of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) while Asad Farid and Shahid Zaman Shinwari were elected as vice presidents of the body during a ceremony held here at Chamber House on Saturday.
After assuming charge as president of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Yassar Sakhi Butt thanked members for electing him and he assured them that he would try to solve the problems being faced by the business community.
He said Pakistan was facing huge economic challenges because of multiple factors like energy outage, rising inflation and continuously deteriorating law and order situation. Government should provide favourable and conducive business environment along with the true implementation of announced policies, he added.
ICCI president urged the government to build the confidence of businessmen by ensuring supply of basic ingredients that were required to pull the wheel of economy and acceleration of trade and investment in the country. Government through continued dialogue process with the participation of public and private sectors representatives must evolve concrete solutions for sustainable development in the country, he opined.
Speaking on the occasion, ICCI Vice President Asad Farid said the main objective of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry was promotion of trade and industry and all available resources would be utilized for economic turnaround as the economic meltdown has now started taking its toll and everybody was suffering badly. He said that market visits and a consistent liaison with the fellow businessmen would be the corner stone of the working of the newly elected office-bearers of the ICCI.
VP Shahid Zaman Shinwari said the ICCI had always served the cause of small traders and highlighted their issues at all relevant forums, which showed that the body was a true representative of all traders. He assured them the ICCI would keep highlighting business community’s issues with concerned authorities for urgent remedial measures.
