Eight more die of dengue in Lahore

At least eight people died of dengue in Lahore on Saturday including an only brother of six sisters, raising the death toll to 123 in Lahore.
Mubashir, a 17-year-old resident of T& T Colony was under treatment in a private hospital. 26-year-old Kiran Munir of Mughalpura and 40-year-old Babar Hussain of Sheikhupura lost their lives in Mayo Hospital.
Meanwhile, 20-year-old Fakhir of Lahore Cantt and 85-year-old Niamat of Ghazi Road died in General Hospital.
Number of dengue patients has reached 765 in Faisalabad as 30 new cases of dengue have been confirmed and 18 new cases have also been registered in Multan. The total number of patients shifted to Nishtar Hospital has reached 248.
Moreover, the number of dengue fever cases has reportedly crossed 400, while dengue virus has been confirmed in 180 people in different districts.
Figures released by the health department state that 464 new dengue cases have been reported in Punjab during the past 24 hours. The total number of cases is 12,379 in the province while 10,904 cases are in Lahore.
10,585 people have been cured in Lahore while a large number of people are still visiting hospitals, the health department further added.
Meanwhile, a team of Indonesian experts has arrived in Lahore to provide assistance in controlling the spread of the disease.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has instructed that fumigation be conducted in private nurseries and cooperative societies. Sharif said Biology and Zoology students along with teachers would be included in the Dengue campaign.
