The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Saturday issued notices to illegal bus stands located in various parts of the capital, which have not only encroached upon CDA’s land but also are creating hindrance in the smooth flow of traffic. “A number of illegal bus stands are functioning in various parts of the city, including Sangani, Perwadhi Morre, Sector G-9, G-8, Faizabad, Karachi Company and others, which disrupt smooth flow of traffic,” an official said. The municipal administration director had issued notices to all illegal bus stands and strict action would be taken if they failed to close it, he said. The owners of these bus stands have encroached upon CDA’s land. He claimed several bus stands were operating illegally on both the sides of Pir Wadhai Road from Mandi Morre (or Lahore Morre) to the bus stand. He said passengers were facing problems for lack of facilities at various illegal bus stands. “Hundreds of passengers visit Pirwadhai, Karachi Company and Faizabad every day, but there is no proper waiting room or any other facility at these stands,” he added. He lamented that most of the passengers, particularly females, were facing this problem and frequently complaining about the non-existence of any facility. A passenger, Adnan Zeb, said that he was unable to wait along with his family members because there was no proper waiting room or any place for the purpose. He urged the officials concerned to take steps to construct proper waiting rooms at the bus stands.
