The plan for the development of historical Mohatta Palace needs to be improved so that it can be turned into a “cultural complex”, Sindh Chief Secretary Raja Muhammed Abbas directed officials of the Culture Department on Friday. He was speaking at a meeting held to review the renovation programme to preserve the palace.
The meeting was attended by the secretaries of the Finance, Culture and Land Utilisation departments, Karachi District Coordination Officer (DCO) Muhammad Hussain Syed and other officials. The culture secretary and Karachi DCO were assigned the task to review the master plan of the complex, where visitors will be briefed about the historical importance and background of the building as it had also remained the residence of Fatima Jinnah. The secretary and the DCO assured the participants of the meeting that they will submit their report within a week.
