Many were seen giving their business cards to the army chief. At more than 50 members, the “august” gathering included many of a stature that the army chief wouldn’t have heard of. Well, now he has their phone numbers as well.

Speaking of the APC, it would have hurt former premier Nawaz Sharif to be seated next to Chaudhry Shujaat Hussein, almost as an equal. Though the seating plan would have bumped up Shujaat’s stature, Sharif would have minded being seated next to a former friend who he otherwise is loathe to even grace with a handshake.

Embattled as might be on many fronts (London party office running into some trouble on account of non-payment of dues, Chak Shehzad estate coming into some legal hiccups; being give a shut-up call for being abroad at this tense time for Pakistan by many national leaders) former president General Pervez Musharraf can still find time to live it up. He was found in London, along with former premier Shaukat Aziz, making merry and being, you know, happy, at the birthday bash of one of his favourite TV anchors.
