PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif raised several tough questions for the military leadership during APC, saying the country had increasingly become isolated in the world and there must be some reasons for this.
Sharif made the remarks during Thursday’s in-camera meeting convened by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani to forge national consensus on a response to US accusations that the Inter-Services Intelligence agency was backing the Haqqani network and waging a proxy war in Afghanistan, media reports said on Friday.
During the question and answer session of the meeting, Sharif asked military officials why the entire world was pointing fingers at Pakistan’s role in Afghanistan.
Sharif also asked the military leaders to explain the security situation of the country with regard to recent US allegations.
Sharif referred to the May 2 US raid that killed Osama bin Laden and said President Asif Ali Zardari wrote flattering articles in American newspapers while Prime Minister Gilani described it as a great victory.
The government should put everything on record in parliament to take the people into confidence on Pakistan’s tense ties with the US, he said.
The situation reportedly prompted Pakistan Army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani to intervene and he reportedly told Sharif, “We will respond to all of your queries.”

    • I am not so sure about what u ra saying. It appears that youare saying that it is the first time MNS said some thing good, and if according to some this is not something good then are you saying that he has never said any thing good. That may well be the case.

  1. The last time the Khakis responded to Nawaz Sharif was when they tossed him out of power, had him tried for treason and then appealed against the decision because he wasn't awarded a death sentence.

  2. People in Pakistan live in a fools paradise. We live in a world where international agencies pull strings from the backend the world over for their respective national interests.. Pakistanis are way ahead in constantly criticizing and demonizing their own security establishment. Who needs enemies. Your country has survived countless attempts of destabilization, with an outcome even worse than the current, due your security establishment. You don’t even know how lucky you are, yet you unknowingly criticize those unsung heros. Most governments do not share their strategic plans with the general population. In Pakistan, the elected representatives are many times in cahoots with enemies of Pakistan. Sharing most things with them will result in leakage of information. Every major agency in the world is active in Pakistan – of such is your geopolitical importance – if ye only knew.
