Major reshuffle in army next month

A major reshuffle is expected in the Pakistan Army as five three-star generals are bound to retire next month and the process to promote two-star generals will start in a few days to fill the vacancies.Some corps commanders will also be changed in the reshuffle. The three-star generals, who will retire next month, are, Commander of Southern Command Lt Gen Javed Zia, Military Secretary Lt Gen Mohsin Kamal, POF Chairman Lt Gen Shujat Zamir Dar, and Lt Gen Jamil Haider.
Separately, an ISPR statement said the Pakistan Army had rescued 65,000 flood-affected people in Sindh so far, and distributed 1,000 tonnes of ration among flood survivors. The ISPR said that the Pakistan Army had established one field hospital and nine medical camps at Sanghar, Mir Pur Khas, Omer Kot and Badin, adding that army doctors had also treated over 85,000 patients. It said the army had also collected Rs 1,069 million in the form of the Army Relief Package during the 2010 floods, of which Rs 662 million had been spent on reconstruction work, done in two phases.
A further Rs 380 million had been spent in various relief programmes in flood affected areas.
