The Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday framed charges against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member of National Assembly (MNA) Anjum Aqeel Khan and 17 of other co-accused for fleeing from police custody. The judge Shahid Rafique informed them about the charges. The judge asked the prosecution to produce witnesses before the court during the next hearing which would be held on October 11.
However, the 18 accused denied the charges. The court charged Khan with intentionally escaping from Shalimar Police Station officials’ custody with the help of 35 other accomplices, launching an attack on the police station and resorting to firing and interfering with police matters. The Shalimar Police Station had arrested Khan on July 15 in a fraud case while a large number of N-league supporters attacked the police party as they shifted the accused to a police station and released the accused forcefully from Islamabad police custody.
The court had already acquitted 18 people from the case whereas bail was granted to the MNA and other accused.
