Young Rising Stars (YRS) and Diya Club have moved into the final of the seventh National Women’s Football Championship being played at the Pakistan Sports Board grounds Islamabad on Wednesday.
In the first semi-final, YRS beat Balochistan United WFC by 2-0 at the PSB Outer Football ground. Nabila and Asmara Kiran scored the goals from the winning side in the 15th and 25th minutes.
In the second semi-final, Diya Club edged aside former champions WAPDA by 3-1 on penalty shootouts at Jinnah Football Stadium. After playing a goalless draw, the teams were given penalties and Iram Kazmi, Nazia Nazir and Hajra Khan converted their penalties successfully while Rafia Parveen scored the only goal of her team.
