President visits flood-hit areas virtually

President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday directed the Sindh government to keep an eye on the prices and quality of medicines and other supplies for the flood victims and make all procurement orders available on the internet for the sake of transparency and public information.
He was visiting and interacting with elected representatives and government officials of some affected areas of Sindh through special video conferencing room set up here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr and monitoring relief work. The districts visited included among others Badin, Dadu, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Thatta, Umerkot and Tharparkar.
Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar said the president has been personally monitoring the situation and relief work being carried out in the affected areas. He said a special flood control room was also set up in the presidency in Islamabad on Wednesday to continue monitoring flood relief measures from the federal capital. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah was present in the Control Room of CM House Karachi and participated in the monitoring exercise via satellite.
The elected representatives of the affected areas highlighted the problems faced by the people of their respective areas. The president also issued directives for the solution of problems.
