Mohsin Aziz, elected as APTMA Chairman

Mohsin Aziz has been elected as central Chairman All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) for 2011-12. The newly-elected Chairman APTMA is a renowned and seasoned businessman from Khyber Pakhtunkha (KP). He has already served APTMA as central Chairman in the past and is re-elected from the province of KP on the basis of rotation. Sheikh Muhammad Akbar and Tariq Saood are elected as Vice Chairman Punjab and Sindh-Balochistan region respectively.
Scrutiny of the nomination papers for the APTMA offices held Wednesday and the Businessmen Group candidates secured all APTMA offices and made a clean sweep as no other nomination paper was filed against them. The Businessmen Group which Group is being led by Gohar Ejaz, Shahzad Ali Khan and S M Tanvir.
APTMA is the premier textile industry association and has regained strength as an association under the leadership of Gohar Ejaz, the outgoing Chairman. His policies on industry issues would still remain the prime focus of new management throughout 2011-12. The five-point APTMA agenda presented by him to President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari includes free market mechanism, energy security, market access, globally competitive interest rate and end of the divide between policy as a way forward for textile industry in Pakistan.

  1. It is good change, because the policies of previous management were not good for the research work on cotton. The APTMA is running on the wheels of cotton research and the Mr. Gohar Ejaz was spoiling the whole research work on cotton by not the tax i.e. cess.
