A drug court on Wednesday ordered reopening of 22 laboratories sealed by the Punjab government for overcharging on dengue tests.
The court directed the laboratories to work under directions of the Punjab government. According to details, the Punjab government had sealed Umer Lab, Faiza Lab, Agha Lab and 19 other laboratories for charging more than Rs 90 for dengue tests. Owners of the said laboratories had filed a petition in the drug court submitting that laboratories were sealed on false grounds. They said that due to overload of dengue patients, it was not possible for the laboratories to manage them. They requested the court to allow them to function for the sake of the public interest.
