Reacting to a recent media report on Pakistan film fraternity planning to take legal actions against screening of Indian cinema in Pakistan, singer turned actor from Pakistan, Ali Zafar, commented, “In Pakistan after 30 years of destruction in the film and cinema industry the process of rebuilding has started and now a new cineplexes are being made. Existing cinemas are being renovated and high standard films are in the process of production in coming years besides of few good ones that were produced in recent years including ‘Bol’ and ‘Khuda Ke liye’. All this has been possible because of foreign film policy of the government of Pakistan. We have seen the results of restrictive policy in the past which ended up in destroying cinema industry due to lack of public interest to go into theatres and now we have seen the progression also since foreign films have started to showcase. It is in interest of the rebuilding process that any kind of restriction is created.”
