Another committee to tackle the mighty dengue

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday constituted a special committee headed by the chief secretary to devise a comprehensive system to address the complaints and to submit recommendations within the next three days to provide primary healthcare facilities in the city to fight against dengue.
He said that action would be taken against departments showing negligence in addressing the complaints received on the helpline for dengue patients and ordered that an effective mechanism should be evolved to redress the grievances of patients. The CM said that all possible resources were being utilized to eliminate dengue and to provide the best medical facilities to patients. He said that elected representatives, officers and experts were taking an active part in the campaign against dengue while doctors had also dedicated their abilities and energies to serve the dengue victims.
The CM said that the number of the beds allocated for dengue patients in the Ittefaq Hospital had been increased from 60 to 90 so that free treatment facilities could be made available to more patients. Twelve social security dispensaries had also been set up besides various dispensaries and diagnostic centers to provide medical facilities to patients.
