The National Assembly Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis on Tuesday expressed displeasure on the slow pace of work of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) housing project. The committee held a meeting at the site office of the project in Zone-V, with Muhammad Jadam Mangrio MNA in the chair. During the meeting, the director estate gave a presentation; however, the committee members expressed their anger over the progress made so far. They were of the view that the land for the project was purchased in a hilly area without any vision and a huge amount was being spent for levelling the plots.
“As a result of the faulty planning, the road has been constructed in a way that the residential plots are located above it,” said the committee chairman. The parliamentarians recommended that the work pertaining to levelling the plots should be awarded to the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO). It was also decided that the committee would meet every month to monitor the development work in the OPF housing project. Committee members who attended the meeting included Nazir Ahmed Bughio, Fauzia Wahab, Dr Mahesh Kumar Malani, Abdul Qayyum Khan Jatoi, Dr Khatu Mal Jeewan, Nighat Parveen Mir and Main Khadim Hussain Wattoo.
