The Shah Faisal Town administration has decided to take action against the residents found washing their vehicles and draining out water on roads or lanes under municipal laws, according to a press release issued on Monday. In a meeting held to review the ongoing campaign against dengue fever, the town’s administrator Kamal Mustafa stressed upon concrete efforts to curb the outbreak of the disease. “The administration will ensure that no one is allowed to risk their own as well as others’ lives,” he said. He directed town officials to ensure action against people found disposing of garbage at places other than the designated sites or draining water out of their homes.
Mustafa also directed the officials to stop fountains and artificial waterfalls in the town and ensure regular spray of insecticides at family parks. He further directed the Building and Roads Department of the town to urgently repair all ditches and pot holes. Separately, SITE and Jamshed towns have geared up their fumigation campaign in every union council, especially in areas prone to mosquito breeding. SITE Town Administrator Imran Aslam said that all areas of the town will be fumigated to minimise the chances of mosquito-borne diseases. He urged citizens to keep food covered during the fumigation campaign in their areas, but keep the windows and doors open for maximum coverage of spray. “The city district government has provided 19 vehicles for the drive,” he added.
Problem is the aedes aegypti mosquito has now developed a genetically passed on resistance to DEET (http://bit.ly/deuN9Z)-so look for your proven natural repellents to be safe. There’s a new natural South African repellent called OnGuard proven against Aedes aegypti. I dont think its in PK but someone may look at importing it. http://bit.ly/qVxyEZ
