The Pakistan cricket team for the Sri Lanka series is likely to be announced on October 8 after the finalisation of the new national cricket coach.
The Pakistan team is to play full three-Test series later in October, which also includes three ODIs and a T20 match. The series will roll into action from October 18.
The Pakistan team is to leave for UAE, where the series is to be played at Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. But the team announcement has been delayed a bit because the national team coach has not been finalised and the likely chance is that the Pakistan Cricket Board will opt for an interim coach.
The PCB-formed committee to hire new coach is to meet on September 29 and the team will be announced only after the coach is named.
The selection committee and the coaching selecting committee will give the names of the probables to the chairman who will name the final players and the coach on the last day of his job in the PCB.
PCB chairman Ijaz Butt’s assignment terms ends on October 8 and the PCB chief patron has not yet made any decision of extending his term or bringing in a new chairman’s term. So on October 8 is not only the day of the announcement of the team, coach but also the new chairman.
