The dengue viral fever after wreaking havoc in the most populated province of Punjab, has now hit the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, owing to which, Shifa International Hospitals Ltd Islamabad has come forward to play its role in dealing with the outbreak of the epidemic, said a press statement issued here on Monday.
It said the Shifa Hospital on Monday formally launched a two-week long campaign against dengue. “To this effect a dengue community awareness centre has been established outside the lobby of Shifa College of Medicine near the gate number-5, where qualified medical officers, nursing and support staff will conduct physical check-ups of the visitors and also provide them useful information regarding the fatal disease,” Shafqat Ali Hamdani, Associate General Manager of Shifa International Hospital said in the press release.
He said various departments including Infectious Control Committee, Department of Community Medicine, Shifa College of medicine and Infectious Disease Society of Pakistan (IDSP) were engaged in the campaign that would continue from 26 September to 07 October, 2011.
