Indo-Canadian stand-up comedian Russell Peters might have flown back to Canada, but he still remains a hot topic for discussion. In fact, Peters’ comments on Aishwarya Rai have not only offended the lady in question but have also drawn severe criticism from women’s rights activists in Mumbai. The comedian had used derogatory words for Aishwarya and said, “She hasn’t become a better actor. She is still good looking, isn’t that good enough? Good job Abhishek, you finally knocked her up!”
Shalini Thackeray, president of the MNS cine-workers union, said, “He (Russell) has no right to talk badly about our actors. His comment on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is indeed in bad taste and will not be forgotten.” Sundari Thakur, an activist from NGO Nari Samman Sanghathan, said, “He should mind his language and stay within his limits. Aishwarya is a woman first and an actress later. I think Russell has no respect for women and shouldn’t be entertained.”
