No compromise on national security: President, PM

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, agreeing that no compromise would be made on the national security and sovereignty of the country, have decided that all decisions made during the All Parties Conference would be implemented in letter and spirit.
The prime minister called on the president at the presidency on Tuesday and discussed the current political and security situation in the country.
The devastation caused by floods in Sindh, the relief and rehabilitation measures and the upcoming meeting of the political leadership of the country in order to evolve national consensus on current situation also came under discussion.
The president expressed the hope that the country’s political leadership would be able to reach consensus on issues of national concerns.
The meeting was also attended by Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar, Secretary General to the President Salman Faruqui, Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir and others.
President Zardari again made it clear that democratic government was passing through critical time and it was a dire need to be united adding no compromise should be made on the sovereignty and integrity of the country.
President welcomed the move of PM Gilani to call APC on Thursday terming it an enriching sign for country’s national interests. The APC would discuss the tense diplomatic stand-off with US and to decide a future course of action.
Sources further added that during the course of the meeting, the president and PM highly acclaimed the services and support given by China to assist Pakistan in such a critical and challenging situation.
