Tenders for the laying of the blue astroturf have been invited and the company will be decided in a month’s time.
According to an official of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, the turf after the finalisation of the tenders will take three months to reach here and laid at the National Hockey Stadium. “The blue turf would be the first of its kind to be laid in the country and would give the team ample opportunity to practice before the London Olympics,” he said.
“The official further stated that the turf, likely to come from America or Australia would be ready for team’s practice well before time,” he added.
It would cost around Rs 35 million and would be installed at the stadium by the start of the next year.” The PHF official was very grateful of the Punjab government for granting the funds for the turf.
