Interactive workshop at Hunerkada with Ari Roland

Hunerkada College of Arts and Performing Arts on Monday organised an interactive workshop featuring the New York-based Ari Roland Quartet and artist Jamal Shah at the Hunerkada premises. The Ari Quartet played pieces by Jazz legends along with their own symphonies with critically acclaimed original compositions, inviting young music lovers to come together and play Jazz with them to gain a better understanding of this genre of music. The Quartet included Ari Roland, the leader of the group who is a professional Jazz player. Keith Balla is a master drummer while Chris Bayer plays tenor saxophone and is acknowledged as an outstanding composer. The fourth member of the Quartet is bass saxophone player Zaid Nasser who is the son of Jazz and Blues master Jamil Nasser. His music albums have been included in several ‘top ten’ lists by music critics. Addressing the audience on the occasion, event organiser Jamal Shah said that it was a rare opportunity for young Pakistani musicians to be able to listen live to outstanding Jazz players. “Music enthusiasts, I am hopeful you had a good learning experience while playing your instruments under the guidance of these legends,” Shah said.
