Committee demands judicial inquiry

Matani Kalakhel Aman Committee has demanded Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Chaudhry to form a judicial inquiry into the attack on the Matani School van and to provide aid to the victims’ families. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, elders of the committee Haji Awal Din, Doctor Aamer and Haji Dost Muhammad said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government should take solid steps for the elimination of terrorist activities in the region. They gave a week’s deadline for their demands to be met, announcing that if the CJP failed to do so then they would stage demonstrations and set up hunger strike camps. They added that the committee had existed for twenty years and had been working for the welfare of the people, therefore its name should not be converted to ‘Amaan Lashker’.
