Spokesman of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) has criticised SNGPL for continuing with the three days a week gas curtailment for textile industry despite a full assurance from the Federal Petroleum Minister for reverting it back to two days a week forthwith.
He said despite a pro-textile industry approach of the Federal Petroleum Minister and President of Pakistan, a stubborn attitude of the SNGPL authorities, is resulting into colossal losses to industry including workforce layoff and delay in securing exports orders from buyers. The APTMA spokesman said the SNGPL has increased gas curtailment for textile industry from agreed twice a week to thrice a week since September 17.
He said the issue has been taken up at the highest forum of the country, leading to authorities directing the SNGPL authorities to revert to original load management plan of twice a week for textile industry. But all in vain, as the SNGPL was yet observing thrice a week load curtailment in textile industry. The APTMA spokesman said the SNGPL was non-cooperative to the industry. He said the Federal Minister for Petroleum Dr Asim Hussain should immediately take notice of the situation and expressed the hope that those responsible would be taken to task for flouting government directions.
