At least two Peace Committee volunteers were killed and six others were injured when a check post was attacked by militants in the Manari Tehsil of Bajaur Agency on Tuesday. The check post, situated very close to the Pak-Afghan border in the Nawa Pass area, had been attacked with hand-grenades. The security forces shot dead one militant and injured six others in retaliation. The dead body of the killed militant was in the possession of the security forces.
It was the fourth attack by the militants in the border regions of Bajaur. Around eight tribesmen have been killed and several others injured in these attacks. More than 30 children had also been made hostages by these militants on the third day of Eid-ul-Fitr this year.
The security forces have demanded the Afghan government and the NATO troops for action against these militants camping across the border in the Kunar province of Afghanistan.
