‘1,100 weapons and 77,000 rounds recovered during search operations’

Some 1,100 weapons and over 77,000 rounds of ammunition have been recovered from different areas of Karachi during the surgical operation launched by the Pakistan Rangers-Sindh. Briefing the media at the Rangers-Sindh headquarters on Monday, Staff Officer Col Shafiqur Rehman said 25 major and 67 minor operations have been conducted in the metropolitan so far. He said 90% of the weapons recovered are illegal, adding that security has been enhanced at entry and exit points of the city along with snap-checking. He also said the Rangers are establishing a round-the-clock helpline at its headquarters to resolve the citizens’ complaints.
RAIDS: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) raided Baldia Town’s Rasheedabad and arrested four alleged target killers. A CID team headed by SSP Chaudhry Aslam arrested Abdur Rehman, Aneesur Rehman, Aslam and Nasir, who are affiliated with a political party and have admitted murdering six people. The CID also arrested alleged killer Alam Khan Mehsud with a TT pistol in another raid. Mehsud is also affiliated with a political party and allegedly killed an eight-year-old girl after raping her. Separately, the Zaman Town police’s special investigation team arrested six alleged criminals, including Amjad and Abdul Hakeem, with five TT pistols from Landhi and Quaidabad.
