US ‘X Factor’ in dock for showing obscenity on TV

US television reality show ‘X Factor’, has come under the scanner for showing obscenity. The show came under fire from a parents watchdog group for failing to cut portions of “graphic nudity” out of the show’s debut on Sept 22. Contestant Geo Godley dropped his pants midway through his audition on the competition show, and although his genitals were covered up by a network graphic during the edit, the lewd act enraged many viewers who where watching the programme with young children, Contactmusic reported.
It even made Paula Abdul, who is one of the judges to leave the arena as the contestant performed. Officials at the Parents Television Council have now taken action and filed a formal complaint with the Federal Communications Commission, insisting the TV bosses are accountable for falsely rating its content PG, which suggests the material is generally appropriate for kids above the age of 10. According to Tmz.com a letter was sent to the network bosses to put a PG rating on the show.
