Police on Saturday claimed to have seized a huge consignment of arms and ammunition and also arrested an alleged smuggler at an entry point of Islamabad.
A spokesman for Islamabad Police said Anti Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) stopped a suspicious car at a picket on the railway crossing in Tarnol. During the search, the ACLC team recovered a huge cache of weapons and arrested Sabir Hussain, who hailed from Kahuta. The recovered items included 14 automatic rifles including six 30-bore ones, 50 pistols, one 12-bore pump action gun, a double barrel gun, one sniffer riffle, dozens of magazines and thousands of rounds.
The spokesman said an FIR had been registered against the alleged smuggler, who was being interrogated for further revelations. According to a police source, the recovered weapons were being smuggled from Peshawar.
