Pakistanis cannot be cowed down by US threats, says JI chief

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Syed Munawar Hasan said on Saturday that Pakistanis were not slaves of the US and could not be cowed down. Addressing the Ittehadul Millat Conference, Hasan said Pakistani rulers might be afraid of the US but the 180 million people of this country had no such fear. He said the nation stood fully united against the US threats and would no spare any sacrifice for the country’s independence and sovereignty.
He said miscreants were trying to create dissention among the nation to serve their mean ends but all such attempts would fail. The JI chief said rulers claimed that the US could not do without Pakistan, but never said that they too could do without the US, adding that this was why Washington was issuing threats to this nation. He said time had vindicated JI’s stance that the war on terror was not our war and the nuclear Pakistan was the actual US target.
He said Pakistan had suffered heavily during the last ten years but the US had not acknowledged Pakistan’s role and was instead hurling threats to this country. However, he was sure that having met a humiliating defeat in Afghanistan, the US would not dare to attack Pakistan.
